Family Jail: A True Story of Surviving Sexual Abuse is a raw and deeply personal memoir about my life—one marked by pain, resilience, and the search for love amidst suffering. No child should have to endure what I experienced at the hands of my stepfather. This book reveals the good, the bad, and the ugly truths that shaped my journey.
Beyond the abuse, it is also the story of a love that defied distance and hardship—a relationship that many tried to destroy. Despite the barriers and cruelty I faced, including the mental and emotional abuse from those who sought to tear us apart, our bond remained strong for as long as it could. Sadly, life’s cruelty ultimately separated us, leaving behind heartache and unanswered questions.
The final words he spoke to me, “I still love you,” echo in my heart to this day. Although he was taken from me by those who wished to keep us apart, the love we shared lives on in my memories and in the spirit of our children. This book is my way of honoring that love, confronting the darkness of my past, and finding healing through telling the story that demanded to be told.
